Email delivery problems are often blamed on the mail application when the real issue is DNS authentication. cPanel can check the SPF and DKIM records used by domains that send mail through the server.
Start with Email Deliverability
If the domain uses external DNS, the record may need to be changed at the DNS provider rather than in cPanel.
- Open Email Deliverability in cPanel.
- Find the affected domain and review its status.
- If cPanel reports a problem, open Manage to see the recommended record.
What the records do
- SPF lists servers that are allowed to send mail for the domain.
- DKIM adds a cryptographic signature that receiving mail systems can verify.
- DMARC tells receiving systems how to handle messages that fail authentication and can provide reporting.
Do not replace records blindly
A domain may send mail through more than one service, for example the hosting server plus a newsletter platform or Microsoft 365. Replacing an existing SPF or DKIM record without checking the full setup can make delivery worse. If the instructions are not clear, send them to support before changing DNS.
Need help? If you are a Mumford Connect client and would rather not make the change yourself, use the Support page and include the affected domain or email address.
