How to Create or Change a cPanel Email Account

Create a mailbox, change its password and check its storage quota from cPanel.

Email Accounts in cPanel is where you create and manage mailboxes for domains hosted on the account. A mailbox has its own password and storage quota.

Create a new mailbox

  1. Open Email Accounts in cPanel and choose Create.
  2. Select the correct domain if more than one domain is available.
  3. Enter the part of the address before the @ symbol.
  4. Set a strong password, or use the password generator.
  5. Choose an appropriate storage limit and create the account.

Change a mailbox password

If an old device keeps trying the previous password, it can cause repeated authentication failures. Update all devices promptly.

  1. Open Email Accounts.
  2. Find the mailbox and choose Manage.
  3. Enter a new strong password and save the change.
  4. Update the password on every phone, computer and mail application that uses the mailbox.

Check the mailbox quota

The Email Accounts screen shows storage usage for each mailbox. If a mailbox is close to its limit, remove mail that is no longer needed or increase the quota if the hosting plan has enough free space.
