How to Log In to cPanel and Webmail

Where to sign in, which username to use, and what to do if the login details no longer work.

cPanel is the hosting control panel used to manage website files, email accounts, backups, domains and other hosting settings. Webmail is separate: it lets you read and send mail for an individual mailbox in a browser.

Use the secure login details supplied with your hosting account. If repeated login attempts fail, stop and contact support rather than continuing to guess the password.

Logging in to cPanel

cPanel also supports a secure connection on port 2083. The exact address can vary depending on the hosting account, so use the address you were given rather than bookmarking a server name from another account.

  1. Open the secure cPanel login address supplied with your hosting account.
  2. Enter the cPanel account username and password.
  3. After signing in, use the search box to find the feature you need rather than working through every section.

Opening Webmail

Webmail can also be reached over a secure connection on port 2096 when the server and domain are configured for it.

  1. In cPanel, open Email Accounts.
  2. Find the mailbox and choose Check Email.
  3. Webmail opens for that mailbox. If you sign in directly to Webmail later, use the full email address and the mailbox password.

If the login does not work

  • Check that you are using the cPanel username for cPanel, not an email address.
  • For Webmail, use the full email address and that mailbox password.
  • Do not keep retrying an old password. Repeated failed logins can trigger brute-force protection and temporarily block your IP address.
  • If you are unsure which credentials are current, contact support.
